China’s BAIC Motor is preparing to launch a plug-in hybrid vehicle in the near future, according to local reports.

The new vehicle will be produced and sold by the company’s recently established new energy vehicle subsidiary, BAIC BJEV, and is expected to be based on the NV200 MPV platform.

BAIC is increasing its focus to low- and zero-emission vehicles and recently established a new-energy vehicle management department to undertake R&D and production of such vehicles.
