Audi sold 101,996 cars in China last year, up 25% on a year ago.


Locally produced cars accounted for 93,168 units, up 21%. The A6 was the biggest selling model (73,404 units, up 19%), followed by the A4 (19,764 units, up 27%).


Audi sold 7,720 imported vehicles, up 115% on a year ago. 3,401 units were A8s, while the Q7 accounted for 3,631 units.


1,108 cars were sold in Hong Kong.


Audi’s sales and marketing chief Ralph Weyler said that China is now the automaker’s largest export market. He expects sales to continue to grow in 2008 fuelled by the market launches of the R8, A5 and S5.
