Infotainment systems supplier Alpine Electronics has opened its third Chinese production facility, in Taicang City.
Taicang Alpine Electronics Co Ltd. will provide electronic components for the Chinese motor industry. Currently employing 400 staff, this figure is set to rise to around 1,500 by 2006 as production ramps up to 2.5 million units per year.
More than 230 guests attended the recent dedication ceremony, including representatives of Jiangsu province and Taicang city governments with senior management from both Chinese and overseas motor manufacturers also present.
During the ceremony Cheng Huming from the Taicang City Communist Party expressed his gratitude for Alpine’s work in Taicang and spoke of his expectations for the production centre and for Alpine.
Commenting on the new centre, Alpine’s Sales and Marketing Director, Dave Sheen added: “With the rapid growth in the Chinese motor industry it is vital for us to have a strong local presence and this is the third centre we have opened in the country to date. With our highly skilled workforce and sourcing 100% of parts and materials locally we are confident the new plant will soon become No.1 in the world for quality.”
