The Brazilian minivan market has lost much of its sparkle yet the Chevrolet Spin still has a strong presence in the segment, including taxi service, but has always been criticised for its controversial styling. It is offered in five and seven-seat versions.

However, for the 2019 model year, GM has smoothed out its lines, especially in front, while both front and rear now look like they were styled by the same team, working together. The front is lower and more steeply sloped, headlights have a lower profile and the bonnet with nine creases also helps to give this functional and practical model an entirely new look.

At the rear there is a spoiler on top of the tailgate which now has a more wrap-around rear window. Tail lights are longer and split between body and tailgate.

The ‘adventurer’ (pseudo-SUV) Active version no longer has an externally-mounted spare tyre on the tailgate. This change allows the option of a third seat row for seven-seat capacity because the automaker no longer has to consider the spare wheel’s proximity a risk to third row occupants.

Another interesting change is to the second row, bench seat. Now, in addition to being split, it slides lengthwise 5cm fore or 6cm aft, offering a choice of more legroom or more luggage capacity. The backrest is adjustable for angle, too.

Boot volume ranges from 710 to 756 litres in the five seat version, without folding down the middle row seat. This gives the Spin a load carrying advantage even when compared to some larger minivans.

Inside, additional to a new, optional trip computer, the instrument cluster is now shared with the Chevrolet Tracker compact SUV.
