Cerence has signed a memorandum of understanding with LG Electronics to develop new software which integrates LG's webOS Auto In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system with Cerence ARK (AI Reference Kit), a new 'turnkey' voice assistant for the automotive market.
The companies will develop a voice command system that gives vehicle occupants more control over car functions, navigation and multimedia.
The partnership will deliver more efficient management of resources required to integrate the two products, aiming to provide automakers and tier one suppliers with a pre-packaged, full-stack IVI software system that will shorten development time.
LG's webOS Auto is a Linux-powered IVI platform for connected cars. Cerence ARK is designed to help automakers quickly develop a fully localised automotive voice assistant.
