Canadian industry minister Tony Clement will head for Washington next Tuesday to discuss General Motors’ restructuring efforts with the US administration.
He told Reuters the Ottawa government’s main goal in the process was to maintain Canada’s 20% slice of GM’s North American production.
The announcement came the same day GM shuttered its Oshawa, Ontario, light truck plant, as previously announced, with the loss of 2,200 jobs.
