General Motors of Canada last night confirmed that the fully redesigned 2008 Malibu will be unveiled next January at the North American international motor show in Detroit.
“With each new product we are aiming to raise the stakes and the next-generation Chevrolet Malibu will be no exception,” said GM Canada vice president Marc Comeau in a statement.
He added that GM had approached the redesign with the aim of making the new car stand out in the highly competitive North American mid-size car segment.
The new interior for the 2008 car features a ‘dual cockpit’ design.
The 2008 Malibu will follow a model redesigned for the 2004 model year (putting it on a new four-year replacement cycle in line with Japanese rivals such as the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry; the prior generation was built from 1997 to 2003 and carried over to 2004 for fleets only).
