More good news for Canadian auto workers along with Toyota’s announcement of expanded RAV4 capacity at Woodstock, Ontario: Ford is adding an extra engine-making shift in Windsor.

Demand for new vehicles has prompted Ford to add a third shift at its Essex Engine plant where it builds engines for F-Series pickup tricks and Mustangs.

The third shift is expected to add 100 jobs at the plant in May and increase the output 40%, Ford Canada spokeswoman Lauren More told the National Post.

She said US sales for the F-Series were up 17% this year, and in Canada, up about 25%.
