The Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd has announced it will invite other advertising agencies to bid for its estimated CAN$50 million contract that has been in the hands of Young and Rubicam Canada for the past ten years, writes Monica Dobie, in Montreal.
A spokesman from Ford Canada said that the decision to put the contract up for review is not the result of a flawed performance by Young and Rubicam.
“It’s just part of business that’s happens from time to time,” he said. The spokesman added that J. Walter Thompson, owned by the London-based WPP Group, (as is Young and Rubicam), would be a front-running competitor to capture Ford’s creative and media business.
