BYD has won a tender for the delivery of six 12-metre ebuses to operator, Busitalia Veneto in Padua, Italy.
Busitalia Veneto’s parent company is Busitalia Sita Nord (owned by Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane) and APS Holding of the Padua Municipality. The tender won by BYD is the first electric bus order for Busitalia Sita Nord.
The six 12-metre ebuses equipped with two doors and featuring BYD’s new frontal appearance, are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of this year.
BYD 12-metre ebuses are already operating in Italy. A total of 25 BYD ebuses have been in operation in Milan since 2014 as well as in Turin and Novara since 2017.
“More and more Italian cities are choosing to go green and electric and are opting for BYD,” said BYD Europe managing director, Isbrand Ho.
“We are anticipating a significant rise in sales of our ebuses in this southern European country after the news on recent tenders we won in Sweden and Norway. Italy has become a key market to us and we are looking forward to more orders in the near future.”
