BYD has announced the name of its new electric pickup truck, Shark, on social media site Weibo this week.

In a post that did not disclose pricing details, the Chinese carmaker said the Shark, a PHEV, is equipped with a Dual-Off Road (DMO) system, developed to improve off-road driving.

It comes as Auto China is due to start later this week, where the likes of Nio and Mercedes-Benz have announced debuts of new models.

On Weibo, BYD said it would be exhibiting its midsize electric sedan Qin L though did not officially confirm if the Shark would be showcased at the event.
