BYD launched its latest sedan model, the Qin Pro sedan, in Beijing with the choice of petrol, PHEV (plug-in hybrid) or EV (pure electric) powertrains.

The automaker claims the hybrid Qin Pro DM can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in only 5.9 seconds and its fuel consumption per 100km is as low as one litre, making it the most powerful hybrid compact car yet. Large capacity batteries with high energy density and intelligent battery temperature control/management allow the EV version to travel 500km on a single charge and over 800km a day. Batteries can be recharged to 80% in 30 minutes with the right charger.

BYD also offers "Self-driving Developer" and "Ecosystem Developer" versions with open-source software.

This is the first car with the D++ open-source ecosystem said to lower development costs for smart travel.

BYD claimed to be the top seller of new energy vehicles between 2015 and 2017.
