The Bulgarian auto market enjoyed its best month of the year so far in June, with 1,910 new cars sold.

The relative success during the month helped to slow the decline the country has been witnessing of late with a six-month fall of 39.4% compared to the same period last year. The six months to the end of May had seen a fall of 42.2%.

Between January and June, Bulgarians bought 8,998 units of cars, lorries, buses and motorcycles, the Association of Automobile Manufacturers (AAM) said.

Local industry leaders believe the slowdown in the market decline is a result of deep discounting and greater availability of credit.
