Renault do Brasil expects to export 40 percent of the engines made in its new
factory in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná state, beyond the
Mercosur country bloc, business daily Gazeta Mercantil reported.

Argentina currently buys all the French-owned company´s Brazilian car
exports – 40 percent of the 600 vehicles made each day, the newspaper added.

Renault will begin exporting engines next month to Uruguay and Colombia and
to Mexico – where Renault Scenic minivan production is starting at the Nissan
plant – by October.

Of the 400,000 engines the company plans to manufacture in São José
dos Pinhais in 2004, 100,000 will be exported to these countries, Gazeta Mercantil
said.
