Encouraged by the strong growth in sales of flex-fuel vehicles in the country, Peugeot do Brasil has introduced flex-fuel versions of the locally-made 206 hatchback and SW models.

Following the launch of the flex-fuel versions, badged “Flex”, Peugeot is halting sales in Brazil of the 206 with the 1.6 litre 16-valve petrol-only engine. This engine will now be fitted only to export versions.

In the second half of the year the flex-fuel engine will also be available in the Brazilian-made Citroën C3.

PSA has also developed a flex-fuel version of its 1.4-litre eight-valve engine made in Brazil. The new engine will also be offered in the 206 and C3 ranges.

Peugeot is the sixth automaker to enter the flex-fuel segment in Brazil. Volkswagen, GM, Fiat, Ford and Renault already produce such models.
