A new generation of the Ford Ka has been shown to the media in Brazil. Unlike the outgoing model, there are two body styles: a sedan and a five-door hatchback.
The new Ka and Ka+ (sedan) will offer the choice of 1.0 12v TiVCT and 1.5 16v Sigma flex-fuel engines. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine is being built in Brazil for the first time at Camaçari powertrain plant in the state of Bahia.
Both models come equipped as standard with air conditioning, power steering, front electric windows, remote central locking, MyConnection Gen.3 with MyFord Dock audio system, dual airbags, ABS with electronic brake distribution (EBD) and brake control in curves (CBC).
As was the case with the EcoSport, the new Ka has been developed in Brazil, in partnership with engineering teams in Europe and the US.
Ford is yet to announce these models’ dimensions though it has disclosed boot volumes, which are 257 cubic litres for the Ka and 445 for the Ka+.
A prototype of this new model was originally revealed to the media in Brazil in November 2013, with a preview of the Ka+ then unveiled as the Figo concept at February 2014’s Delhi motor show.

By GlobalDataThe new Ka should also be built in China (by Changan Ford), Thailand and India, with potential additional CKD assembly in South Africa. In some markets, such as India, the Figo model name will be used. There should also be exports to Europe (most likely from India), with Ford of Europe stating in December 2013 that it would sell a production version of Ford do Brasil’s concept “in a couple of years’ time”.
