Ford of Brazil has launched a new pseudo-offroad version of its locally-made Fiesta hatchback.

The new version, named the Fiesta Trail, is the latest entrant in the growing Brazilian ‘urban offroad-look’ segment and will compete with models such as the Fiat Palio Adventure, VW Crossfox and Chevrolet Celta Off-Road.

The Fiesta Trail is equipped with bulkier bumpers, a front bull bar, side bars and roof bars. But despite its looks, the model does not have increased ride height, the tyres are for on-road use and the vehicle is front-drive only.

The Trail is offered with the same engines as the rest of the brazilian-made Fiesta range: one-litre 65hp petrol, one-litre 95hp supercharged petrol and 1.6-litre 105-111hp flexfuel.

The Brazilian-made Fiesta range is built in the automaker’s Camaçari plant, in Bahia state. The Brazilian version is almost the same as the European-made model and differs only in details such as the headlights and absence of side indicator repeaters.
