The Brazilian unit of DaimlerChrysler (DCX) will hire 650 new workers at the end of the year to keep up with increased demand for trucks and buses, a company spokesman told Dow Jones Newswires.
The new hires underscore significant growth in the Brazilian auto industry in 2004, with more gains expected for 2005.
The spokesman reportedly said the company expects to produce 49,000 buses and trucks in 2004, compared with 37,500 in 2003. Even higher output is expected for 2005, although an official forecast isn’t yet available.
DaimlerChrysler currently has 10,780 workers in Brazil, Dow Jones Newswires said.
