Chinese car manufacturer Chery is reportedly looking for potential manufacturing sites in South America.

According to AutoData, the company might set up a distribution centre for fully imported vehicles before building a local assembly plant.

One possible location is the state of Pernambuco, according to the news agency. The state government would reportedly provide incentives for the company to locate near the port of Suape. The state recently outlined the advantages of a location in its region, which included its attractiveness as a base for exporting to other Latin American and Caribbean markets.

Sites in Argentina are also under consideration.
