Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has appointed Tadashi Arashima the new president and chief executive officer of Toyota Motor Marketing Europe (TMME) from June 27. Alan Jones has been named executive vice president of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing Europe (TMEM) and chairman of Toyota Manufacturing UK (TMUK); Bryan Jackson will succeed Jones as managing director of TMUK. Kazuhiko Miyadera has been appointed executive vice president at TMEM.
As part of a new streamlined management system, aimed at boosting Toyota’s global competitiveness, Arashima and Jones will also hold the title of managing officer of Toyota Motor Corporation.
In his new job, Arashima will be responsible for all marketing and sales activities across Europe. He joins TMME from the Europe division at Toyota Motor Corporation, where he was general manager. Arashima began working in North America division of TMC in Tokyo in 1973. In January 2000 Arashima joined TMME, where he served as senior vice-president until 2001, when he was appointed chief co-ordinating executive of TMME until 2002.
Arashima replaces Akira Imai, who will join Delphys Inc. as executive vice-president. Delphys Inc. is an advertising and market solutions firm, and a 100% subsidiary of TMC.
As executive vice president of TMEM, Jones will assume direct responsibility for the quality and production engineering divisions. Jones is also the first European to hold a post of managing officer for TMC.

Miyadera, who replaces Tsuneo Uchimoto, will assume responsibility for research and development at TMEM. Miyadera joined Toyota Motor Corporation in 1978, with responsibility for interior design for a range of car components. He also led the start up of Toyota’s North American R&D functions. Miyadera has been heading the body advanced developments efforts at TMC for the last five years.
As managing director of TMUK, Jackson is responsible for the production of the Corolla and Avensis at Toyota’s vehicle plant in Burnaston, Derbyshire, and engines at its plant in Deeside, North Wales. Jackson joined Toyota Manufacturing UK at its inception in 1990 and was previously deputy managing director.
