The Belgium based international chemical and pharmaceutical group Solvay’s affiliate Inergy Automotive Systems is building new fuel systems plants in the Beijing region of China and in the Chennai region, India to supply new car assembly plants.
The Beijing factory will supply a Hyundai factory from July 2010 and the Chennai factory will supply “a car plant in the Bangalore region operated by a large Japanese car manufacturer”.
This is the new Nissan plant set initially to produce the redesigned Micra from May 2010.
“The new production units are constructed to serve the fast-growing automotive industry in this part of Asia,” Solvay said in a statement.
Inergy last year began operations at its new production unit in Wuhan in the Hubei province of China which supplies fuel systems to Nissan and BMW car plants. Wuhan will also, from the end of this year, start supplying a PSA plant. Inergy has other plants in Korea, Japan and Thailand – over 20% of its activities are located in this region.
