The jointly developed Peugeot 107, Toyota Aygo and Citroën C1 models will be launched at the Geneva motor show in March.
They will share engines (a 1.4-litre will also be available) and transmissions plus a large number of structural components, parts and sub-assemblies, The three cars do, however, have unique body styling and vary slightly in overall dimensions.

The Czech plant will have an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles – 200,000 for Peugeot and Citroën and 100,000 for Toyota.

The annual production capacity of TMMP for the 1.0-litre engine and manual transmission has been targeted at 250,000 units and 300,000 units respectively – bringing TMMP’s eventual total annual transmission production capacity to 550,000 units.

TMMP already builds manual transmissions for European-built Toyota vehicles with 1.3-litre to 1.8-litre engines – such as the French-built Yaris line and UK- and Turkey-built Corolla models.

To support this growth, employment at TMMP will increase from 1,100 employees to approximately 1,800 by the end of 2005 – while total investment amounts to €400 million.

By the end of 2005, Toyota will have eight manufacturing plants in six continental Europe countries (UK, France, Poland, Turkey, Portugal and the Czech Republic).

Toyota Motor Industries Poland (TMIP) – located in Jelcz-Laskowice – will begin production of diesel engines this year. With an annual production capacity of 150,000 units, TMIP will eventually employ 700 employees.
