BYD has won its first order from Barcelona for 25 12-metre eBuses.
The order followed success in a public tender to phase out diesel in the Spanish city.
The city tested an eBus in 2020, with positive feedback. The new EV buses enter service in Catalonia between 2022 and 2024.
All will have a roof-mounted pantograph for “opportunity charging” at the depot.
The buses will be built in Hungary and will have the latest iron phosphate 442kWh battery with increased energy density for longer range and life.
A single charge delivers 400km of range under standardised on road test (SORT II) conditions.
