Axalta is expanding its Jacksonville, Texas production facility by 30,000 square feet.

The expansion is slated to be completed in the first quarter of 2019 and will increase Axalta’s liquid industrial coatings production capacity in North America by around 1m gallons annually.

The Jacksonville plant has experienced growth during the past year, emerging as one of Axalta’s most productive manufacturing plants. The plant specialises in waterborne, low-VOC and solvent-based industrial coatings, in addition to other high-performance products.

“We are enthusiastic about the continued investment and development in the site’s manufacturing and formulation capabilities” said Axalta vice president, Global Industrial Coating Systems, David Heflin.

“This expansion will allow our team to continue to deliver high volume solutions that address the evolving needs of our customers.”

Last week, the supplier unveiled second-quarter net income of US$75m compared to a net loss attributable to Axalta of US$20.8m in Q2, 2017.

Second quarter net sales were US$1.2bn, up 10.8% year-over-year, driven by volume growth of 6.5% primarily from acquisition contribution, 1.9% higher average selling prices and a 2.4% foreign currency benefit.

Second quarter net sales growth was positive in all regions and average prices increased in all regions except Asia Pacific, which was largely impacted by lower average price in Light Vehicle in China.
