Its gas-guzzling, CO2-belching products may be unfashionable currently and GM has put a ‘for sale’ sign up in front of the brand, but, last month, Hummer Australia had its best sales month in a year, retailing 122 units.
Local GM unit Holden said the result was achieved despite total market sales being down 17.1%
and the SUV market down 18.6% compared to March 2008.
“Despite the challenges being faced with the declining market, these results show the strength of the brand amongst consumers”, said Parveen Batish, director of GM premium brands, in a statement.
“Australia is the fourth largest market in the world for Hummer and these sales figures highlight the popularity of the H3 in our market”.
Australia takes only the right hand drive H3 assembled in South Africa. It was launched in 2007.
