Magna Drivetrain has announced the successful start of serial production of the Integrated Transfer Case (ITC) for the new Land Rover Discovery III (L319). The manufacturing and assembly of the transfer cases will take place in Magna Drivetrain’s facilities in Lannach and Ilz (Austria).
Magna says that the ITC for the Land Rover Discovery III represents another milestone in all-wheel-drive technology.
The ITC is a system for permanent all-wheel drive with constant torque distribution. The driver is supported on- or offroad by intelligent plate lock. The low gear, it is claimed, enables safe driving even in the hardest off-road conditions.
With the supply of the ITC for the Land Rover Discovery III, Magna Drivetrain expands the cooperation with Land Rover which began in 1997 with the supply of all-wheel-drive components for the Land Rover Freelander.
