Toyota Australia has updated its unique-specification, locally made Aurion (Camry V6) model line which is exported with both right-and left-hand drive, primarily to the Middle East.
The mid-life restyle includes a new nose, LED brake and tail lamps plus new wheel designs.
Model grades offered ‘down under’ are Prodigy, Sportivo SX6, Sportivo ZR6 and top-line Presara.
Body-side mouldings have been deleted to give a cleaner appearance, according to the automaker.
The Sportivo variants are more “aggressive” with a larger trapezoidal lower ‘mouth‘.
Interior materials have been changed and Prodigy and Presara models have a new linear satin wood grain finish.
Headlights are stronger and there are equipment upgrades – the Prodigy gains an electro-chromatic interior mirror, power rear sunshade and rain-sensing wipers, for example.
Prodigy and the two Sportivo grades have a new ‘display’ audio system with 4.3-inch colour LCD display, reverse camera capability, six-CD multi-changer, USB/iPod auxiliary audio input and Bluetooth telephone hands-free kit with microphone integrated into the dashboard.
The Aurion has a 200kW 3.5-litre petrol V6 with six-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota Australia recently began pilot production of the Camry Hybrid, becoming the third source after facilities in Japan and the US to built the petrol-electric model.
