A deal with Malaysian car maker Proton to export the 380 model – a locally-produced variant of the US-made Galant – is poised to relieve pressure on Mitsubishi Australia, according to reports.
A Mitsubishi executive said the deal was being negotiated, The Australian reported, according to the Adelaide Advertiser.
Proton engineers visited Mitsubishi’s Tonsley Park plant in South Australia state last week to discuss the deal, according to the paper.
