Mitsubishi Motors (MMC) said today (2 June) it would ship its i-MiEV new-generation electric vehicle to Australia starting next month.
 
MMC, along with its Australian distributor Mitsubishi Motors Australia (MMAL), has been undertaking EV promotional activities aimed at electric power companies and other bodies since February of this year with two i-MiEVs.
 
Althkygh no precise date for shipment is yet known, 40 i-MiEVs will be sent, starting from July. The company plans to lease the cars to customers from next month.
 
The i-MiEV started sales in Japan in July last year mainly to corporations and municipalities, with sales to individuals starting this year.

Australia is the second market outside Japan to get the i-MiEV after Hong Kong, which began sales in May.

MMC will also build versions for PSA on an OEM basis.
