Fiat cars are returning to Australia after almost two decades’ absence, with the launch on Saturday of the new Punto.
About 20 newly appointed Fiat dealerships will launch the new Punto ‘down under’.
For Australian importer, Ateco Automotive, the launch of Fiat cars is the third phase of its rollout programme for products from the Fiat Group.
The Sydney-based company launched Alfa Romeo in 1998 and Fiat commercial vehicles in 2000. It also imports Ferrari and Maserati and is the New Zealand distributor for all Fiat group brands.
The five-model Punto launch line will be followed by other models over the next 18 months. Initially they will be sold through Alfa Romeo dealers but Fiat-specific dealers will eventually be appointed as volume builds.
