Fiat’s new Bravo, which makes its Australian debut (reviving the Ritmo badge) at the Brisbane motor show next week has broken all European sales targets following its launch last year, the automaker said.
The sales target was 70,000 cars for 2007 but 90,000 were delivered with and further 30,000 orders carried over into 2008, Ateco Automotive said ahead of the ‘down under’ launch.
“Even though the [Bravo] is now the top selling car in its sector in Italy, more than 60% of orders for the new hatchback have come from outside its home country,” Ateco said.
The 1.9 JTD ‘Multijet’ turbodiesel engine option, which accounts for 55% of sales in Europe, is headed for Australia along with the 1.4-litre 110kW ‘T-Jet’ turbocharged petrol engine. Buyers there will choose from two trim levels.
Ateco was forced to revive the Ritmo nameplate for the Bravo in Australia as the ‘Bravo’ tag has already been registered locally by another automaker. Ateco also holds the distribution rights for neighbouring New Zealand and is launching the new car as the Bravo there.
