India carshare firm Zoomcar has announced a partnership with Audi.
Zoomcar consumers can now book an Audi Q3 in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata via the Zoomcar mobile app or the website http://www.zoomcar.com.
The Audi Q3 can be rented out via the Zoomcar platform for INR 240/- per hour and this includes fuel, insurance, taxes, roadside assistance.
After their car booking mobile app, the company recently launched ' ZAP' to further improve the customer experience and service quality with Zoomcar. ZAP launched in 2016, allows individuals to purchase vehicles on behalf of Zoomcar, list the vehicle on a dynamic basis on its platform when sitting idle, and then finally share in the profit on a monthly basis.
The company says the business model has seen 'robust adoption' with over 20,000 registrations for the program so far. Zoomcar expects this marketplace model will account for over 550% of its overall vehicle inventory by mid-2017. The company says the model will allow Zoomcar to reach a fleet size of >25,000 across 50+ cities by the end of 2018.
"Audi's confidence in Zoomcar allows us to extend our reach even further, bringing the taste of high performing luxury vehicles to a wider cross section of aspiring Indian consumers," said Zoomcar CEO, Greg Moran. "It is our goal to accelerate the expansion of our successful ZAP business model to integrate these new shared mobility products into the market as soon as possible. We are confident that this will be a compelling alternative to 'car ownership' and help revolutionize the way personal transportation is viewed in the city in the years to come. Introducing a true car sharing model is a simple, yet powerful example of how technology can transform our cities. We're just now at a fundamental paradigm-shift across the country."

"Audi has always been committed towards pioneering mobility solutions, embodying 'Vorsprung durch Technik'. Zoomcar represents both visionary car rental and modern mobility. It's no secret that the Audi Q3 is one of the most popular models in our product portfolio. We are pleased to see that luxury aficionados in the country can now experience our youngest SUVs in India in such a flexible way," said Mr. Rahil Ansari, Head, Audi India.
Zoomcar is targeted towards the segment of urban dwellers who don't want to own a car, so, the company has launched 'KLE' – keyless entry, which allows consumers to unlock the cars through an app. They can pick up the car and drop off at various points across the neighbourhood. If you can't find your keys, simply use your smartphone, the company says. If the owner wants to loan the car to a friend or rent it to a paying stranger, they can send an access code to their phone.
Zoomcar says it will work closely with the Audi team to 'develop even more innovative mobility solutions for urban consumers in the months ahead'.
Zoomcar recently raised $24 million in its Series B round of investment. The investment was led by Ford Smart Mobility LLC, a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, with existing investors Sequoia Capital, Empire Angel, Nokia Growth Partners, OurCrowd and Cyber Carrier CL also participating in the round.
