Audi has created a new division to independently manage its line of 65 models plus the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) ‘project house’.
Chairman and CEO Markus Duesmann, in his additional function as management board member for development, will also head the new division, which will be a client for Technical Development.
Duesmann also will assume direct responsibility for the China business.
Audi said the new, separate division and “intensified interfaces in the development division” would structure its model series organisation more efficiently.
“This realignment strengthens the vehicle project business and the strategic importance of the model series. It will enable us to focus even more strongly on our products within the company,” said Duesmann.
Following the departure of former development chief Hans-Joachim Rothenpieler, Duesmann is assuming responsibility for the new division.
