Around $200m will be spent on gearbox production with the balance on recently revived car production, Reuters reported.
Fiat Argentina this year began producing the Siena in Argentina, resuming local car production after it was halted during the country’s 2001-02 economic crisis.
The company is also expected to start making a pick-up truck this year in a separate investment project announced earlier with Tata Motors, Reuters noted.
But a just-auto correspondent in Brazil reported recently that this project had run into problems and was ‘on ice’.
