Thai vehicle dealer Amorn Group plans to add Subaru to its brand portfolio this year as it continues to expand its domestic operations.
The company's CEO, Wannapa Tangbanyong, told local reporters that it will begin selling Subaru cars from next month following an agreement with the brand's importer and distributor Tan Chong International.
Amorn currently sells BMW cars, accounting for around 7% of the brand's 7,751 unit sales in Thailand last year, and also Vespa scooters.
Thailand was Subaru's largest market in south east Asia last year with 2,637 unit sales, just ahead of Malaysia's 2,539 units.
Subaru has gained market share in both markets in the last year thanks to the growing range of locally-assembled models in Malaysia. The new Forester SUV went into production earlier this year alongside the existing XV model.
By the end of the year Amorn plans to expand into the large motorcycle segment by adding BMW Motorrad to its portfolio.
