Allison Transmission has announced, along with GMC, the availability of a ten-speed, fully automatic transmission in the new Sierra heavy-duty truck.
Equipped with the Allison-branded 10-speed transmission, the 2020 Sierra will debut in February, 2019.
“Trailering is the most important consideration for Sierra Heavy Duty customers and the new features and technologies, including the Allison fully automatic transmission, make it easier than ever to hitch a trailer and tow it confidently,” said GMC vehicle chief engineer, Heavy Duty Trucks, Jaclyn McQuaid.
“The ten-speed transmission with closer gear spacing allows the engine to operate in an optimal range at all times with varying load and terrain conditions.”
Designed for high-performance and low-maintenance, the Allison ten-speed coupled with GMC’s Duramax diesel engines provides power delivery and productivity customers demand.
“We are pleased General Motors continues to expand the range of Allison products available for their customers with the Sierra,” said John Coll, Allison Transmission SVP global marketing, sales and service, John Coll.
