Nissan has made its Pro Pilot driver assistance system available with all automatic transmission models in its Qashqai SUV range.
The system assists the driver with steering inputs to keep the car within its lane, and also by maintaining the car's speed and distance to the vehicle in front. That includes the ability to come to a complete stop in traffic then move off again automatically within three seconds with no input from the driver, or after more than three seconds at the touch of a button or the accelerator.
The system is available with all DCT and CVT transmission cars, with petrol or diesel engines.
It is standard with Tekna and Tekna+ equipment grades, and a GBP595 option with N-Connecta grade.
The system was rolled out to the Qashqai range after making its UK debut with the electric Leaf, and Nissan says it will subsequently be made available with its larger X-Trail SUV later this year.
With manual Qashqais, a drive assist pack is available instead, comprising intelligent lane intervention, intelligent cruise control and lane keep assist – meaning it can replicate all the features of Pro Pilot except stopping and moving away again in traffic.
