Alfa Romeo’s stylish
sportscars, the GTV and Spider convertible, which have been in great demand
in the UK since their introduction, will acquire another strong feature –
a significantly lower price – from 1 September.

The Alfa GTV and Spider’s
15% price reduction completes the car manufacturer’s recent range restructure.
Alfa Romeo’s sustained pricing strategy, one of the earliest responses
to pricing issues in the UK, was implemented back in April and involved, on
average, around 20% price reduction on all Alfa Romeo sports saloons and hatchbacks.

Alfa Romeo reported its
highest monthly market share of the year (0.49% in July) and a threefold increase
in forward sales – a testimony to the success of this strategic initiative.

Over 7,000 versions of the
GTV and Spider have been sold in the UK since 1996. An extensive revision to
the range in 1998, together with the introduction of a GTV 3.0 V6 24v version,
have sustained their presence in the exclusive sportscar niche market.

Option prices remain unchanged.
