The US’s auto industry registered a 0.5% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.09% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the auto industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.06% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.11% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s auto industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.22% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s auto industry in August 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 45.67% in August 2022, registering an 11.8% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 22.48% share, a decrease of 2.27% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 11.01%, registering an 81.72% rise from July 2022.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 9.25%, up 24.56% over the previous month.

Top five auto companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 3.68% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s auto industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

Dana posted 314 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 15.14% over the previous month, followed by Tesla with 106 jobs and a 47.22% growth. Mercedes-Benz Group with 87 IT jobs and PACCAR with 71 jobs, recorded a 16.35% decline and a 10.13% decrease, respectively, while IAA recorded a flat growth with 70 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.69%, up by 11.41% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23.78% share, registered an increase of 2.53% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.53% share, up 38.51% over July 2022.
