The US’s auto industry registered a 2.4% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.11% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the auto industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.83% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 0.26% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s auto industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.56% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s auto industry in September 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 50.72% in September 2022, registering a 5.6% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 23.45% share, a decrease of 3.1% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 7.88%, registering a 19.23% decline from August 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.5%, down 9.77% over the previous month.

Top five auto companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 14.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s auto industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Dana posted 452 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 22.83% over the previous month, followed by Tesla with 114 jobs and an 11.76% growth. PACCAR with 66 IT jobs and Ford Motor with 51 jobs, recorded an 8.33% decline and a 3.77% decrease, respectively, while General Motors recorded an increase of 7.5% with 43 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.29%, down by 6.31% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 22.89% share, registered a decline of 10.07% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 15.7% share, up 4.15% over August 2022.
