The UK’s auto industry registered a 6.4% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 12.15% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the auto industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.86% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 1.05% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s auto industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.42% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s auto industry in September 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 55.26% in September 2022, registering an 11.7% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 25.26% share, a flat growth over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 10%, registering a 46.15% rise from August 2022.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 4.21%, flat growth over the previous month.

Top five auto companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 26.85% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s auto industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Tata Motors posted 54 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 25.58% over the previous month, followed by Redde Northgate with 45 jobs and an 87.5% growth. Motorpoint Group with 28 IT jobs and Inchcape with 5 jobs, recorded a 6.67% decline and a 44.44% decrease, respectively, while Sensata Technologies Holding recorded an increase of 150% with 5 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.63%, down by 14.39% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.84% share, registered an increase of 70% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.53% share, down 9.09% over August 2022.
