North America witnessed a 1.0% rise in IT hiring activity in the auto industry in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2022 has seen a decrease of 0.03% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.3% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering a decrease of 0.09% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 47.16% in August 2022, a 17.32% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 21.94% in August 2022, marking a 3.1% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 10.59% in August 2022, a 75.73% rise from July 2022.

Computer and Information Research Scientists registered a share of 8.66% in August 2022, an 18.4% rise over the previous month.

Top five auto companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 25.27% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s auto industry during August 2022 over previous month.

Dana posted 314 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a decline of 15.14% over the previous month, followed by Robert Bosch with 119 jobs and a 693.33% growth. Tesla with 107 IT jobs and Mercedes-Benz Group with 88 jobs, recorded a 48.61% rise and a 16.19% drop, respectively, while IAA recorded a flat growth with 76 job postings during August 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s auto industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s auto industry IT hiring activity with an 89.82% share in August 2022, a 12.04% increase over July 2022. Mexico featured next with a 6.61% share, up 50.67% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 3.57% share, a flat growth compared with July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.73%, up by 13.8% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23% share, registered a growth of 3.97% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.28% share, up 33.33% over July 2022.
