October 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.85% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.78% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.43% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 46.37% in October 2022, a 29.78% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 23.37% in October 2022, marking a 24.94% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Research Scientists with a share of 10.67% in October 2022, a 1.38% rise from September 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 9.14% in October 2022, a 0.79% decline over the previous month.

Top five auto companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 29.07% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s auto industry during October 2022 over previous month.

Dana posted 281 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 41.09% over the previous month, followed by Tesla with 95 jobs and an 18.1% drop. General Motors with 59 IT jobs and PACCAR with 57 jobs, recorded an 11.32% rise and a 13.64% drop, respectively, while Ford Motor recorded a 5.45% decline with 52 job postings during October 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s auto industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s auto industry IT hiring activity with an 89.77% share in October 2022, a 26.59% decrease over September 2022. Mexico featured next with a 5.44% share, up 29.31% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 4.79% share, a drop of 15.38% compared with September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.35%, down by 22.95% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.92% share, registered a decline of 25.43% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.51% share, down 28.83% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.22%, recording a month-on-month growth of 200%.
