April 2022 has seen a decrease of 7.82% in the overall hiring activity when compared with March 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.53% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2022, registering an increase of 0.39% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 65.86% in April 2022, a 30.25% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 12.96% in April 2022, marking a 15.81% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 7.37% in April 2022, a 19.53% drop from March 2022.

Top five auto companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 16.99% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s auto industry during April 2022 over previous month.

General Motors posted 225 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a decline of 19.64% over the previous month, followed by Tesla with 148 jobs and a 41.04% drop. Ford Motor with 130 IT jobs and PACCAR with 110 jobs, recorded a 21.5% rise and a 3.77% rise, respectively, while Continental recorded an 11.25% decline with 71 job postings during April 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s auto industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s auto industry IT hiring activity with an 87.62% share in April 2022, a 26.66% decrease over March 2022. Mexico featured next with a 7.52% share, down 34.78% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 4.87% share, a drop of 11.69% compared with March 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.06%, down by 30.9% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.77% share, registered a decline of 5.08% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.03% share, down 37.38% over March 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.14%, recording a month-on-month decline of 66.67%.
