Europe’s auto industry IT hiring activity rises 12.7% in August 2022

Europe witnessed a 12.7% rise in IT hiring activity in the auto industry in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2022 has seen an increase of 11.41% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.

IT jobs accounted for an 11.11% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering a decrease of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 70.36% in August 2022, a 126.89% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 13.27% in August 2022, marking a 13.97% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 7.47% in August 2022, a 37.38% rise from July 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 5.49% in August 2022, an 18.68% rise over the previous month.

Top five auto companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 379.4% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s auto industry during August 2022 over previous month.

Robert Bosch posted 981 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered an increase of 760.53% over the previous month, followed by Vitesco Technologies Group with 99 jobs and a flat growth. EDAG Engineering Group with 76 IT jobs and ZF Friedrichshafen with 64 jobs, recorded an 850% rise and a 190.91% rise, respectively, while Continental recorded a 51.22% decline with 60 job postings during August 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s auto industry

Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s auto industry IT hiring activity with a 51.25% share in August 2022, a 170.24% increase over July 2022. Romania featured next with an 11.03% share, up 97.27% over the previous month. The UK recorded an 8.29% share, a drop of 47.59% compared with July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.56%, up by 80.88% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with a 15.66% share, registered a growth of 135.11% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 10.68% share, up 15.38% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.1%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
