Europe witnessed a 9.3% drop in IT hiring activity in the auto industry in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
October 2022 has seen a decrease of 9.2% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 10.34% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.45% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 54.79% in October 2022, a 42.24% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 19.98% in October 2022, marking a 21.46% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 10.3% in October 2022, a 29.58% drop from September 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 8.86% in October 2022, a 21.1% decline over the previous month.
Top five auto companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 8.97% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s auto industry during October 2022 over previous month.
Porsche Automobil Holding posted 146 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 8.18% over the previous month, followed by ZF Friedrichshafen with 80 jobs and a 12.68% growth. Continental with 75 IT jobs and AB Volvo with 58 jobs, recorded a 50% rise and a 27.5% drop, respectively, while Mercedes-Benz Group recorded a 41.24% decline with 57 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s auto industry
Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s auto industry IT hiring activity with a 34.19% share in October 2022, a 47.88% decrease over September 2022. The UK featured next with a 13.08% share, down 40.65% over the previous month. Romania recorded an 11.95% share, a growth of 10.48% compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.78%, down by 33.24% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 14.42% share, registered a decline of 35.19% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.7% share, down 44.81% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.1%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
