Europe witnessed a 12.7% drop in IT hiring activity in the auto industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2022 has seen a decrease of 7.59% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 10.4% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 0.87% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 63.12% in September 2022, a 41.68% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 14.78% in September 2022, marking a 34.98% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 9.08% in September 2022, a 7.5% rise from August 2022.

Top five auto companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 50.21% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s auto industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Robert Bosch posted 201 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a decline of 79.51% over the previous month, followed by EDAG Engineering Group with 151 jobs and a 98.68% growth. Mercedes-Benz Group with 98 IT jobs and AB Volvo with 80 jobs, recorded a 50.77% rise and a 90.48% rise, respectively, while Volkswagen recorded a 60% increase with 72 job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s auto industry

Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s auto industry IT hiring activity with a 44.55% share in September 2022, a 41.23% decrease over August 2022. The UK featured next with a 13.37% share, down 0.52% over the previous month. Poland recorded an 8.16% share, a drop of 28.83% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.44%, down by 38.48% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 15.27% share, registered a decline of 35.8% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 14.29% share, down 22.22% over August 2022.
