Canada’s auto industry registered an 8.8% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 5.11% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the auto industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.58% share in June 2022, recording a decrease of 0.73% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 52.75% in June 2022, registering a 23.08% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 14.29% share, an increase of 85.71% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 12.09%, registering a 120% rise from May 2022.

Top five auto companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 192.31% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s auto industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

BRP posted 49 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a rise of 716.67% over the previous month, followed by General Motors with 16 jobs and a 1500% growth. KAR Auction Services with 4 IT jobs and Robert Bosch with 4 jobs, recorded a 71.43% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Taiga Motors recorded a decline of 40% with 3 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.43%, up by 91.18% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25.27% share, registered an increase of 76.92% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 3.3% share, down 70% over May 2022.
