The organisers of the LA Auto Show have taken the decision to delay the event by six months, rescheduling it to take place between 19 and 28 November at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The brief statement follows the news a month ago that this year’s North American International Auto Show will not be taking place in September after all. Instead, the Detroit Auto Dealers Association says it will put on a different kind of event for enthusiasts at a motor racing circuit in Pontiac north of the motor city.
The organisers stated on 20 October 2020 that the NAIAS would move permanently to an autumn/fall slot. Whether or not the show will happen in 2022 has not confirmed.
Other events to have been cancelled include Canada’s national show, which had been scheduled as an online-only affair this year. The Toronto show, axed last November, will return as an in-person event in February 2022. The Montréal show, which had been set to go ahead as a digital event in mid-January, was also cancelled.
Meanwhile, there was no 2021 Brussels motor show in January, Chicago is also likely to be on hiatus this year (usually February but officially delayed until ‘spring’ but there are still no firm dates) as is Geneva (March). New York, which, pre-COVID had been a fixture each April, will this year take place in August.
Being an odd-numbered year, the shows we wouldn’t see happening anyway include New Delhi, Busan, Paris and Beijing, while Frankfurt is from now on replaced by Munich every two years.
