Daimler has denied media speculation concerning a potential sale of its luxury Maybach brand.
Chinese press reports indicated car and battery manufacturer BYD was a possible buyer for Maybach, but Daimler has firmly rebutted the speculation.
A statement from the German automaker said: “Maybach is an essential part of our brand portfolio. There is no decision in any other direction.
“Every Maybach sold contributes to our profit and we will therefore continue to cultivate Maybach. We will introduce the facelifted version at Auto China 2010.
Daimler added it was “too early” to provide details of the upgraded version.
